It is time to adapt national development strategies to the new commitments under the Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted in September 2015. The signing of the Paris Climate Change Agreement is a historic event which will pave the way to the future of our societies by 2100. This is an agreement on the future of the planet, a clear commitment of every society and every country to act environmentally responsibly so as to serve the interests of the next generations. The Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the EU in 2018 should plan early its priorities, among which could be the development of the “Danube” region, of the small and medium-sized European towns, energy efficiency. Bulgaria and Poland will work for the development of the regional transport and energy infrastructure in Southeastern Europe, which will connect the Baltic sea with the Mediterranean and Black seas.
