The 2017 edition of the President of Bulgaria’s "John Atanasoff” Awards begins

On May 15th begins this year’s contest for the “John Atanasoff” Presidential Awards, which are bestowed on distinguished young Bulgarian scientists and researchers in computer science and related fields since 2003. The Awards bear the name of world-renowned inventor of Bulgarian origin John Atanasoff - the creator of the first electronic digital computer.

The specialist in computer linguistics Dr. Slav Petrov is the 12th prize-winner of the presidential award John Atanasoff, which is awarded for achievements in the sphere of information and communication technologies. The John Atanasoff Awards at the Sofia Science Festival 8 -11 May 2014

The President’s administration will be a partner in the fourth edition of the Sofia Science Festival to be held in the period 8 -11 May on the scene of the “Sofia” theater and in the Zaimov park. The Competition for the John Atanasoff Awards Will be Held for a 12th Year in a Row

Today, 3 April, the competition for the award named after the world-famous inventor of Bulgarian origin John Atanasoff will be launched. The John Atanasoff award presented by the President of Bulgaria is given for achievements in the sphere of information and communication technologies and will be awarded for a 12th year in a row.

Dr. Petar Kormushev is the eleventh bearer of the John Atanasoff award

On the professional day of IT specialists, 4 October, President Rosen Plevneliev presented the John Atanasoff award to Dr. Petar Kormushev for considerable achievements in the sphere of information and communication technologies.

Celebrating the 110th anniversary of Dr. John V. Atanasoff’s birth on October 4th, 2013

On October 4th we mark the 110th anniversary of the birth of the famous Bulgarian-origin inventor Dr. John Vincent Atanasoff. On this occasion a number of events have been jointly organized by the Administration of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Sofia Tech Park, Technical University – Sofia, the John Atanasoff Society of Automatics and Informatics, BAIT, BASSCOM, ICT Cluster Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the IDG.BG technology website and Computerworld weekly.
