President Rumen Radev talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in Strasbourg

2021-12-02 15:28:00

President Radev conversed in Strasbourg with France's President Emmanuel Macron about the agenda of bilateral relations, Bulgaria's accession to Schengen and the European perspective of the Republic of North Macedonia, among others.

President Radev pointed out that Bulgaria had met the technical criteria for Schengen membership already in 2011 and expected that to be recognised by the European partners. President Macron voiced his principled support for Bulgaria's position.

Rumen Radev also explained Bulgaria's position that it expected specific and irreversible results in the bilateral dialogue with the Republic of North Macedonia, which would guarantee the European values in terms of respect for human rights and the cessation of hate speech, as well as the protection of Bulgaria's cultural and historical heritage in that country.
