2019-08-20 17:02:00

Bulgaria and Jordan have an excellent partnership and will deepen their bilateral partnership in the sphere of security and the fight against radicalization and terrorism. This was the common stance shared by President Rumen Radev and the Foreign Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Al-Sadafi, who held talks at 2 Dondukov street today.

Bulgaria highly appreciates Jordan’s efforts to keep peace and maintain stability in the Middle East, which is extremely important for the countries from the neighboring regions and for the European Union, President Rumen Radev said. The Head of State highlighted the efficiency and the good results from the initiative of the Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein vis-a-vis the so-called Aqaba Process to counteract terrorism, the extremist ideologies and radicalization, which is particularly important for the region of the Balkans. Bulgaria and Jordan will also continue the bilateral exchange of information and experience in preventing radicalization.

There is not a single Bulgarian among the foreign terrorist fighters in the Middle East, Jordan’s Foreign Minister said at the meeting and noted the role of the tolerant Bulgarian society in this respect. Bulgaria has deep historical traditions in religious and ethnic tolerance and can set an example, President Rumen Radev said, for his part.

The meeting also focused on promoting trade and mutual investments between the two countries. Information technologies, industries with a high added value, defense industry and the establishment of joint ventures and tourism were highlighted as particularly promising areas.

President Rumen Radev also noted the good cooperation in the sphere of education and science. In his words, the potential of the Jordanian students who took their university degree in Bulgaria should be exploited to develop the bilateral relations.

At the meeting the Head of State reiterated his invitation to King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein to visit Bulgaria at a time convenient for him.
