Bulgaria is a leading regional player in the Balkans and does its best to help its neighbors on their way to EU integration. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said at a working meeting with Miguel Arias Canete, EU Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action, who is visiting Bulgaria.

I think I am acting fairly and properly by making my decision public five months ahead of the presidential elections. I would like to avoid a lengthy speculation on the topic whether or not I will run for a second term in office in the autumn. I would not like to see that sensible reforms in Bulgaria, such as the reform of the judiciary or the anti-corruption law, should give way to under-hand political calculations about the forthcoming elections.

Bulgaria consistently supports the strengthening of the political dialogue and the economic ties between the EU and the Asian countries and Bangladesh is an important participant in this process. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said, who held talks today at 2 Dondukov street with Sheikh Hasina, prime minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh , who is visiting Bulgaria to take part in the “Global Women Leaders’ Forum: Inspiring the Next Generation.
