The strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the United States is a prerequisite for a far more active economic and investment cooperation, said President Rumen Radev said at a working meeting with the representatives of companies that have invested or are considering making investments in Bulgaria, organized by the Business council for international understanding.

In order to tackle the root causes of the continued military conflicts, the UN needs to adopt a comprehensive approach that combines the efforts of preventive diplomacy, intermediacy and the establishment of peace. Only thus can we restore governance and stabilize the political, economic and social conditions in the countries plagued by crises. This is what President Rumen Radev said today in his first address to the UN General Assembly in New York.

Rumen Radev: Europe cannot possibly buy its security

The meeting of President Rumen Radev with Miroslav Lajcak, president of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, focused on the transformation of the European policy towards migrants and the need to channel EU support towards addressing the economic and social problems in the countries of origin of migration flows. Talking to Bulgarian journalists at the end of the meeting, the head of state pointed out that if the open-door policy towards migrants continues, it will require ever larger security and integration spending from EU member states to provide for the integration programs and guarantee their own security, and yet the problem will remain unresolved where it first arose.
