The modernization of the Bulgarian Army is an obligatory condition if Bulgaria wants to remain a reliable NATO ally, Head of State Rumen Radev said, who held a meeting with General Curtis Scaparrotti, Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO Allied Command Operations. Bulgaria actively participates in the NATO initiatives and should make the necessary efforts to modernize its Armed Forces to meet the Alliance’s standards in the name of the security of its citizens, the Head of State further emphasized.

Bulgaria is ready to deepen its cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the sphere of defense and security in light of the Euro-Atlantic prospects of Sarajevo. This is what President Rumen Radev said at the meeting with the Denis Zvizdic, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina at 2 Dondukov street. Our country has gone down an important path to achieve the high NATO standards and we can share our experience, the Head of State said and emphasized that Bulgaria is developing a catalogue of the opportunities for education, qualification and training in our country in the spheres of security and defense, which Bosnia and Herzegovina can take advantage of.

Bulgaria and Croatia share a lot of common priorities ranking high on the EU agenda and they will continue to cooperate actively on important topics such as the social and economic cohesion of the “old” and “new” member states, Europe’s future, and the enlargement process.
