Yordan Bakalov, Caretaker Interior Minister
 
Yordan Bakalov was born on 1 September 1960 in Asenovgrad.
 
He graduated the Industrial Chemistry Technical School in Dimitrovgrad, the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy - Sofia (1987) and Foreign Trade at the Technical University in Plovdiv (1998). In 2009 Bakalov received his PhD degree in “Organization and management outside the material production sphere” – National security.
 
Since 2012 he has been an Associate Professor and a lecturer in national security at New Bulgarian University, Sofia and at the College of Economics and Administration, Plovdiv.
 
Yordan Bakalov has been Assembly deputy in the 38th, 39th, 40th, and 41st National Assembly.
He was chief of the National Security Committee and member of the Budget and Finance Committee in the 38th National Assembly. In the 39th National Assembly he was member of the Internal Security and Public Order Committee. In the 40th National Assembly he was chief of the Citizens’ Complaints and Petitions Committee, member of the Internal Security and Public Order Committee and chair of the United Democratic Forces parliamentary group.  
 
In the 41st National Assembly he was chief of the Human Rights, Religious Denominations and Petitions Committee and member of the Internal Security and Public Order Committee. 
 
He has a good command of Russian and English.
