2026-01-21 14:36:00
President Rumen Radev received a letter from US President Donald Trump, inviting Bulgaria to join the founding countries of the Peace Council initiated by the American President, and President Radev to represent our country in the future international organisation. The creation of the Peace Council at the initiative of President Trump aims to promote international cooperation to achieve a peaceful resolution of the military conflicts in Gaza and other regions.

In his response to the US President, the Bulgarian Head of State emphasises the importance of President Donald Trump's peace initiatives for the de-escalation of a number of military conflicts. Radev expresses hope that Donald Trump's support for the role of diplomacy will lead to the achievement of sustainable peace solutions in Gaza and globally. President Radev also highlights the recognition of Bulgarian diplomacy with the appointment of a Bulgarian diplomat as High Representative for Gaza in the Peace Council.

The Bulgarian Head of State also reviews the current political situation in our country: resignations of the government after the multitudinous protests throughout the country and of himself from the presidency in order to directly engage in the recovery of the statehood in Bulgaria, the strengthening of the rule of law and the restoration of dialogue between institutions and citizens. Rumen Radev expresses his expectation that in the near future Bulgaria will have the necessary sustainable institutional environment for the continuation of the fruitful cooperation with the United States in the interest of common efforts to preserve peace and security.
