Bulgaria and Vietnam share relations of sincere friendship, long-standing cooperation, mutual assistance, trust and respect. This is what Head of State Rumen Radev said today when he awarded the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, H.E. Do Hoang Long, with the Order of the Madara Horseman, First Class, in the Coat of Arms Hall of the Presidential Institution. The decoration is awarded to the diplomat for his particularly great merits in the development of bilateral relations.

In his address, the Head of State highlighted the Ambassador's active work and dedication to the development of relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam, as well as the resumption of dialogue at the highest political level. Rumen Radev highlighted the intensive political contacts between the two countries over the past two years, and during the Bulgarian Head of State's official visit to Vietnam at the end of 2024, priority areas of cooperation in the spheres of economy, investment, education, science and tourism were outlined. The successful business forums with representatives of leading Vietnamese and Bulgarian companies, as well as the agreements signed between the mayors of Sofia and Ruse with friendly districts of the Republic of Vietnam during the visit were also noted by the President as an example of deepening bilateral cooperation.

The mutual and clearly expressed political will at the highest level to continue the development of our relations in the direction of reaching a strategic partnership gives me confidence that we will use the huge potential that exists between our two countries, the Head of State further said. Rumen Radev also stressed that along with the actions to deepen economic cooperation, Ambassador Long has actively worked with the Bulgarian state in the fields of defence, security and defence industry. After 40 years, we have resumed the training of pilots for the needs of the Vietnamese Air Force here in Bulgaria, the President said, recalling that this year the Bulgarian-Vietnamese diplomatic relations mark their 75th anniversary.

The Head of State also thanked the diplomat for his work with the friendship societies both in Bulgaria and in Vietnam. My delegation and I had the opportunity to see the strong friendly feelings of the Vietnamese people towards Bulgaria, and you are convinced of these friendly feelings of all Bulgarians towards your wonderful country, Rumen Radev added.

The Vietnamese Ambassador thanked for the honour and the high state award he received and noted that the cooperation between the two countries during his term of office has achieved positive results at all levels, with investment interest showing a significant growth. The diplomat thanked the Head of State and the presidential institution for the joint work and promised to continue his efforts to further deepen the excellent relations between the peoples of Bulgaria and Vietnam.
