2024-08-23 12:27:00

President Rumen Radev today held a telephone conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, during which the two discussed cooperation between Bulgaria and Qatar in a number of areas, with an emphasis on innovation, technology and energy.

President Radev highly appreciated Qatar's consistent efforts to de-escalate the conflict in the Middle East, to put an end to hostilities and to find a lasting peaceful solution. In this regard, the Bulgarian Head of State highlighted Qatar's mediation efforts to resolve humanitarian issues, like the release of the hostages, including Bulgarian citizens - the captain and the mate of the Galaxy Leader, as well as those taken captive in the Hamas attack on the State of Israel in October last year.

Radev extended an invitation to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to visit Bulgaria to further deepen the bilateral partnership and the top-level political dialogue.
