On Bulgaria’s national day, President Plevneliev received wishes for the wellbeing and prosperity of the Bulgarian people

On Bulgaria’s national holiday of March 3, President Rosen Plevneliev received congratulations from heads of state and heads of international organizations, including UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, US President Barack Obama and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.

Warmest congratulations on the Day of Liberation of Bulgaria to the Bulgarian people, the President and the Government, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said. "This is an opportunity to mark the proud culture and history of your country and a chance to show the role that Bulgaria fulfills our globally connected world," Ban Ki-moon said in his congratulatory letter. He praised the commitment of Bulgaria to the United Nations in support of shared decisions on common challenges. "I welcome the contribution, dedication and leadership of Bulgaria in seeking a just, peaceful and prosperous future for all people,” the UN Secretary General said.

In his congratulatory letter to President Rosen Plevneliev, US President Barack Obama says: "Bulgaria is a reliable NATO ally and an important partner of the United States. We appreciate your continued strong support for international forces for maintaining security as well as the contribution of your brave soldiers in Afghanistan. We welcome your commitment to democratic reforms and your valuable co-operation in combating terrorism, in the field of intelligence and law enforcement, which defend the security of all our citizens.
“I expect to continue our fruitful partnership,” President Barack Obama’s letter said.

“It gives me great pleasure to send Your Excellency my congratulations on the occasion of your national holiday and my best wishes for happiness and success of the government and people of Bulgaria,” Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II said in her message on the occasion of Bulgaria’s national day.

Messages wishing prosperity, wellbeing and a happy future to the Bulgarian people were sent by Austrian President Heinz Fischer, President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Bundesrat and acting President of Germany, Horst Zehofer, the Heads of State of India, Pratibha Patil; of Ireland, Michael Higgins; of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tr??ng T?n Sang; of Greece, Karolos Papoulias; President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan; the President of the Swiss Confederation, Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf,  and many others.
