2024-03-11 11:30:00

President Rumen Radev discussed the current challenges facing the global economy and their regional and national impact at a meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva. The meeting was held at the initiative of the IMF Managing Director and among the highlights of the talks were the need to increase economic growth after the COVID-19 pandemic and to overcome the negative effects on the economy stemming from military conflicts in adjacent regions, as well as the challenges arising from the increasing application of artificial intelligence.

Investing in education and promoting competitiveness as a factor for economic growth were highlighted as key for Bulgaria and Europe. The need for clear and targeted measures to bridle inflation in this country, which is still above the average for the European Union and has a negative impact on economic stability and this country's long-term strategic goals, was also highlighted.
