Bulgaria will continue to work for strengthening the European Union's partnership with Armenia, the Head of State emphasised at a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia

Bulgaria and Armenia have an excellent partnership, an active and constructive dialogue, as well as the potential to significantly upgrade bilateral economic and investment cooperation. President Rumen Radev and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, agreed on this position. The two held a meeting in Sofia within Simonyan's official visit to Bulgaria.

During the talks, President Radev highlighted this country's interest in further enhancing trade and investment in Armenia, as well as the importance of expanding transport, energy and digital connectivity in the region. The Head of State also stressed the importance of the Armenian-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Economy, which provides additional tools for cooperation between the business circles of the two countries.

The two noted the centuries-old historical and cultural ties between Bulgarians and Armenians, which are an excellent basis for deepening cooperation in the field of education through a more intensive exchange of students and researchers. This is the best way to connect our economies and to make more investments, President Radev said.

The Head of State also pointed to the outstanding contribution of the large Armenian community in this country to the development of ties between Bulgaria and Armenia and its active participation in the social, economic and cultural life in this country.

Bulgaria will also continue to work to strengthen the European Union's partnership with Armenia, the President further stressed at his meeting with Alan Simonyan. The sides also discussed topical issues related to the search for opportunities to achieve sustainable peace, security and stability in the South Caucasus region.
