Radev Holds Meeting with Heads of Security Services on Red Sea Crisis and the Situation of Bulgarian Sailors on the Detained Ships in the Region

President Rumen Radev today held a meeting with the heads of the State Intelligence Agency, Antoan Gechev, the State Agency for National Security, Plamen Tonchev, and the Defence Intelligence Service, Brigadier General Venelin Venev, regarding the current security environment in the Red Sea region.

During the meeting, the heads of the security services assessed the possible risks of mounting tensions in the region, as well as the development of the situation with the Bulgarian citizens, part of the crews of the hijacked ships Galaxy Leader and Ruen at the end of 2023.

The diplomatic actions and coordination with our partners to ensure the security of Bulgarian citizens in the region were also discussed.
