The two were unanimous that restoring peace in Europe through diplomacy is a priority for the EU and the only way to ensure the long-term security and stability of the Old Continent.

The bilateral partnership in the field of energy and the possibility for this country to support Hungary's energy diversification were also touched on. The opportunities for Bulgaria to supply more energy resources to Hungary were also highlighted, following Bulgaria's access to the liquefied gas terminals of Greece and Turkey, the commissioning of the interconnector with Greece and the anticipated completion of the Bulgaria-Serbia gas interconnector by the end of the year.
