Radev meets with the Head of the Sanctions Coordination Office at the US State Department

Bulgaria's modernisation requires transparency in the legislative process and the effective work of the justice system, President Rumen Radev said at a session with the visiting Head of the Sanctions Coordination Office at the US State Department, Jim O'Brian. The meeting was attended by Vice President Iliana Iotova, as well as the US and UK Ambassadors, Hero Mustafa and Rob Dixon respectively.

The sanctions imposed on Bulgarian nationals as part of the US and UK actions to protect their financial systems were discussed at the meeting. The head of State expressed his gratitude for the international support this country had been receiving in its effort to eradicate corruption. The President also stressed that the Bulgarian public expects the next National Assembly to make the adoption of anti-corruption legislation a priority, along with the active partnership and information exchange between Bulgaria's law enforcement institutions and its allies in the fight against corruption.
