2022-10-01 11:55:00

The gas interconnection between Greece and Bulgaria, which is being launched today, not only provides real energy diversification for this country, but will also makes a significant contribution to fostering the stability and economic development of Southeast Europe. This was the common position of President Rumen Radev and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, expressed at a working meeting in Sofia. The two conversed ahead of the IGB launch ceremony.

The strategic partnership between Bulgaria and Greece is an example for the region, Rumen Radev and Kyriakos Mitsotakis said. They discussed the prospects for further strengthening regional connectivity as the most effective measure to expand supply chains and avoid energy shortages in the region.

The acceleration of work on the construction of the LNG terminal at Alexandroupolis and Bulgaria's decision to increase the amount of reserved capacity to 1 bcm of gas per year, as well as this country's interest in participating in the privatisation and management of ports in Greece, were also among the highlights of the meeting.
