Bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Montenegro have always had an eye on our common European future and this has been the case since their establishment after Bulgaria's liberation. This is what President Rumen Radev said when he opened on Monday evening the exhibition "Montenegro and Bulgaria 1878-1918" in the building of the Montenegrin Parliament in Podgorica. The exhibition is a joint project of the state archives of Bulgaria and Montenegro and presents historical documents on the bilateral relations of the countries.
Today's exhibition covers a period of our recent history, but the Bulgarian-Montenegrin historical ties date back to the Middle Ages, when the Montenegrin princes became related to the Bulgarian royal dynasty of Samuel, President Rumen Radev stressed in his address. The Head of State pointed out that in their recent history Bulgaria and Montenegro share relations of friendship, partnership and alliance and his official visit is a testimony to the active dialogue between the two countries. These relations are based on common values and will continue to strengthen in the future in the interest not only of Bulgaria and Montenegro, but also of stability and security in the region and in Europe, Rumen Radev further said.
The President thanked the Montenegrin side for the opportunity to display the exhibition in the Parliament building on the eve of Statehood Day, Montenegro's National Day on 13 July.
