President Rumen Radev held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Slovenia Barut Pahor

The priorities of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the goals of the Three Seas Initiative complement each other and work towards a strong and united Europe, stated President Rumen Radev at a meeting with the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor today at the Presidency. The Slovenian President is on a visit to Bulgaria on the occasion of the Sixth Three Seas Initiative Summit held today and tomorrow in Sofia.

This year’s initiative also includes a simultaneous business forum, bringing together more than 400 representatives of Bulgarian and international businesses. The Head of State Mr. Rumen Radev is hosting the events within the Initiative.

In the meeting with Mr. Borut Pahor, the Bulgarian President lauded the contribution of Slovenia to the development of the Three Seas Initiative when the country was hosting in 2019. The Three Seas Initiative enjoys extremely valuable partnerships, attracting interest globally and establishing itself as a platform for overcoming the economic and social disbalances in Europe. The current challenge before the Initiative is to mobilise investments from private businesses and to continue implementing projects with high added value, Mr. Rumen Radev stated.

The Bulgarian President wished his counterpart a successful hosting of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU, which the country took over at the beginning of July this year. “Bulgaria highly appreciates the fact that the Presidency of the Council of the European Union is being provided by a country in our region that understands the challenges and works for realising important shared ideas regarding the process of European integration,” the Head of State added.
