The Head of State participated in the Fifth World Holocaust Forum in the Yad Vashem memorial in Israel

“The Fifth World Holocaust Forum gathers leaders from the whole world to recall one of the most macabre and shameful periods in human history and warn us to never allow it again.” This is what President Rumen Radev said before the beginning of the commemorative ceremony in the Yad Vashem memorial in Israel, which marks the 75th anniversary of the Auschwitz liberation and the Holocaust Remembrance Day. The commemorative event is attended by more than 40 Heads of State and Heads of Government from around the world.

“Bulgaria is here, holding its head up high, because the country did not allow a single Bulgarian Jew to be sent to the death camps and we can only take pride in this feat of the Bulgarian people, which is highly appreciated here,” the Head of State said. The President called for pooling efforts in fighting anti-Semitism, xenophobia and hatred.

Rumen Radev further emphasized that the current forum is held at a time of problems and a complicated global security environment and voiced hope that the event will help to strengthen dialogue and security.

In Tel Aviv Rumen Radev will meet representatives of the Bulgarian community and will attend the premiere of the Israeli-Bulgarian documentary film “The next generation” by the Bulgarian director Dimitar Gotchev.

The Head of State attended the commemorative ceremony at the Yad Vashem memorial together with his wife Desislava Radeva.
