President Radev: Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Should be Uniformly Developed in the World

Educational and scientific infrastructure should be uniformly developed in the world. This is what President Rumen Radev called for in the statement he made at the top-level forum organized by UNESCO and dedicated to the future of education topic. The event took place within the 74th regular session of the UN General Assembly in New York. UNESCO Director General Audrey Azul, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg also made statements at the forum.

The President also highlighted the need to bring the countries closer together in the sphere of science and education. “If science and high-quality education continue to be developed only in narrow geographical boundaries, we will never achieve equality and sustainable development,” the Head of State said.

Rumen Radev noted that Bulgaria is putting great efforts in building an educational and scientific infrastructure, which will keep the young talents who have achieved success in the scientific sphere, back in their countries. Therefore our country is actively working to establish the Southeast European International Institute for Sustainable Technologies, supported also by the European Commission.

Education means progress, peace and sustainable development, therefore the problems of contemporary education and the vision for its development, should be a priority on the agenda of political leaders, Rumen Radev further said. In the President’s words, education should form a clear idea of the future. The emergence of new professions and the pace of changes in the contemporary world are so fast, that ever more frequently education is lagging behind the needs of real life, the President further said.
