President Radev Reiterated Bulgaria’s Support for Finding a Solution to the Middle East Conflict on the Basis of the Two Independent Countries Principle

2019-09-25 23:29:00

Bulgaria fully supports finding a solution to the Middle East conflict on the basis of the two independent countries living in security and peace principle. This is what President Rumen Radev said, who met his Palestinian counterpart Mahmud Abas in New York today. The Bulgarian Head of State is on a visit to the USA, where he leads Bulgaria’s delegation for taking part in the 74th regular session of the UN General Assembly. The two presidents discussed the security environment in the Middle East region and the EU’s role in finding a long-term and sustainable solution to the Middle East peace process.

In Rumen Radev’s words, the insecurity in the Middle East region, even after the complete defeat against the so-called Islamic state, continues to be a factor that exerts an impact on the EU as well. The Bulgarian Head of State emphasized that Bulgaria is ready to establish a more active partnership with Palestine in fighting terrorism.

Creating an opportunity for Palestinian citizens to apply for issuing Bulgarian visas in Ramallah and deepening the bilateral economic and trade relations were also discussed at the meeting.
