The talks between Head of State Rumen Radev and his US counterpart Donald Trump, held during the official reception for the leaders of delegations within the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, hosted by the US President, focused on the challenges security is facing, the modernization of the Bulgarian Army and increasing the American investments in Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian Head of State told journalists in New York that he expects the Bulgarian government and the Bulgarian diplomacy to work much more actively to achieve progress in the negotiations on relieving the visa regime for Bulgarians travelling to the USA. In Rumen Radev’s words, our country expects a lot more American investments because when we speak of industrial cooperation, which goes parallel with the agreements for armament acquisition, there should also be concrete parameters, while such have not been observed for Bulgaria so far.

Taking a journalist’s question, President Radev noted his participation in the Michael Bloomberg Global Business Forum, at which the prospects for the economic development of the world, and also the measures the developed countries take against the risk of economic turbulences were discussed. The Head of State emphasized that Bulgaria should also do what is necessary so that there be buffers to take advantage of when necessary, and also clear mechanisms for attracting more foreign investments, particularly in the high technologies sphere.
