Bulgaria and Indonesia will Expand the Bilateral Trade in Information Technologies, Education and Tourism

2019-09-16 14:42:00

The sectors of information technologies, agriculture, tourism and education have a great potential for a future deepening of the cooperation between Bulgaria and Indonesia. This was the common stance shared by President Rumen Radev and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, who met at 2 Dondukov street today. Mrs. Marsudi is on an official visit to Bulgaria.

For the first four months of 2019, the trade between Bulgaria and Indonesia stands at 130.5 million $US, which represents a growth of 322% compared to the same period of 2018. President Radev and Minister Marsudi were unanimous that this upward trend is a good basis for the two countries to expand their partnership in more sectors and to focus their joint efforts on increasing the bilateral investments and entry into third markets. We should promote not only the cultural and educational bilateral exchange but also tourism, it was emphasized at the meeting.

The talks also focused on fighting terrorism, counteracting the radicalization of marginalized social groups and promoting religious tolerance. Rumen Radev noted that the the measures taken at the European level are apparently belated, given the poor integration of second and third generation of immigrants that participate in terror acts. Deepening the cooperation between the security services and the exchange of information between Bulgaria and Indonesia were also discussed at the meeting.
