For Bulgaria the Federal Republic of Germany is an important partner, friend and ally. This is what President Rumen Radev said, who awarded the Stara Planina first degree order to the German Ambassador in Bulgaria Herbert Salber.

The high state order is awarded for the diplomat’s contribution to strengthening and developing the Bulgarian-German relations. Ambassador  Herbert Salber is about to complete his mandate in Sofia and henceforth his diplomatic career.

At the ceremony in the coat-of-arms hall President Radev noted the 140th anniversary of the beginning of the diplomatic relations between Germany and Bulgaria. Thanks to the contribution of a lot of generations of diplomats, politicians, entrepreneurs, engineers, scholars and art and culture activists, and also of ordinary citizens, today we enjoy excellent relations between our two countries and peoples, based on partnership and friendship, the Head of State said.

Rumen Radev thanked Herbert Salber for his commitment and contribution to the development of the Bulgarian-German ties in the sphere of politics, economy, culture, education and science. “The trade relations between our two countries are constantly on the rise and Germany established itself as a leading economic partner of our country,” Rumen Radev added. He emphasized that the German investments have a significant contribution to the transformation of the Bulgarian economy towards industrialization and high added value productions.

We particularly value the opportunity to take advantage of the German experience in the sphere of dual training, which opens new prospects for the business and new opportunities for the young people in Bulgaria, he said.

“Bulgaria is our close friend, partner and ally,” Ambassador Herbert Salber said at the ceremony. He voiced contentment that he is completing his professional career, which started 35 years ago, in a country with which Germany is in good relations. Ambassador Salber highlighted Bulgaria’s constructive role and contribution to the development of cooperation and understanding in the Balkans.

The ceremony at 2 Dondukov street was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps in Bulgaria.
