It is not so important that Bulgaria and India should simply engage in bilateral trade, but more importantly the two countries should work together. This is what President Rumen Radev said, who together with President of India Ram Nath Kovind welcomed the participants in the Bulgarian-Indian business forum, which was held in Sofia.

Today is a day in which Bulgaria and India started speaking together, in one voice, and at the top political level, and with the voice of business, Rumen Radev said at the forum, which gathered together in Sofia representatives of about 300 Bulgarian and Indian companies from different economic sectors. A number of bilateral business meetings were held within the event.

Rumen Radev said that the essence of economic synergy lies in joint activities and called on India and Bulgaria to work together in the sphere of education, in training staff and conducting scientific research, without which competitiveness is impossible and also in the joint development of production. The Bulgarian Head of State emphasized that the direct air service between the two countries will encourage the contacts between Bulgaria and India.

The two presidents highlighted a lot of spheres which have the potential for cooperation between Bulgaria and India, among which are information and communication technologies, pharmacy, defense industry, space research, trade, education and food industry.

President Radev emphasized our country’s advantages as a tourist destination, the huge potential in the sphere of information technologies, the favorable conditions for the film industry.

Bulgaria’s geopolitical location positions our country as a transit center and an indispensable element in the communication between Europe and Asia, President Rumen Radev further said. The Bulgarian Head of State identified a lot of our country’s advantages for investment such as the lowest operational expenses and taxes in the EU for the development of business, and the highly qualified labor force.  Bulgaria takes advantage of all the opportunities provided by the EU regulations to relieve visa issue for Indian citizens, Rumen Radev said, adding that this is proved by the increased number of Indian students and specialists working in Bulgaria’s IT sector.

Together with President Radev we took on the commitment to open a new chapter in our economic relations, President of India Ram Nath Kovind told the participants in the forum and called on the business to provide support in this direction. The Indian Head of State said that the friendship between Bulgaria and India has stood the test of time and the political relations have always been deep and strong.  The Bulgarian companies may take advantage of the rapid growth of the Indian economy and the Indian companies may establish partnerships in Bulgaria to meet the needs of both the Bulgarian and the European market, Ram Nath Kovind said.
