Bulgaria and Slovakia Insist that the EU Should Take into Account Each Member State’s Interest Upon Adopting the Mobility Package

2018-06-19 17:57:00

The European Union should take into account all member states’ interests upon adopting the rules for sending workers on a business trip in the so-called Mobility package. President Rumen Radev and the Prime Minister of Slovakia Peter Pellegrinhi shared this opinion. The two held a meeting today within the Bulgarian Head of State’s official visit in Bratislava.

Unless the considerations of the Bulgarian carriers are taken into account, we run the risk of having thousands of our citizens remain jobless, which makes them potential immigrants, Rumen Radev said. He and the Slovakian Prime Minister were unanimous the EU Cohesion Policy should be actively continued so that a balance in the development of the individual regions in the Community can be achieved. The Cohesion funds should be bound with concrete criteria and the leading one should be the GDP per capita. The Slovak Prime Minister voiced his opinion that if the European funds for one country are reduced, flexibility of allocating them should be allowed and the respective country should alone specify its priorities regarding the way the money is spent.

Peter Pellegrinhi voiced before President Rumen Radev Slovakia’s support for Bulgaria’s Schengen, Euro zone and OECD accession.

The Bulgarian President and the Slovak Prime Minister expressed the two countries’ common commitment to remove the double standards in food in the European market, which they consider a priority and will continue to coordinate their efforts with respect to this cause.
