The centuries-old friendly and spiritual ties between Bulgarians and Armenians were highlighted at the meeting between the Head of State and Catholicos Karekin II

Pharmacy, information and communication technologies, agriculture, food and wine production, energy and specialized production are the spheres in which Bulgaria and Armenia can promptly achieve an increase of bilateral trade and mutual investments. This transpired at the meeting between Head of State Rumen Radev and Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan in Yerevan. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA), of employment organizations and the business.

Prime Minister Karapetyan invited the Bulgarian business to develop activities in the newly-formed free economic zone in Armenia and emphasized that the Armenian state is ready to support joint productions of Bulgarian and Armenian companies.

A lot of cooperation agreements were reached within President Rumen Radev’s state visit in Armenia and at the meetings held between representatives of the business circles from the two countries. The Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency has signed memorandums of understanding with the Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Armenia, and also with the Republican Union of Employers. Similar agreements are to be signed with the Development Foundation of Armenia and also with the Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Within his state visit, President Radev held a meeting with His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of all Armenians, and visited the first-capital temple St. Echmyadzin. Karekin II wished the Bulgarians all the best and thanked our people for the support offered to the Armenians at this difficult time for them. He also sent his best regards to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and His Holiness Patriarch Neofit.  “The relations between our peoples, connected through centuries-old friendship, received e new impetus. Within the current visit we reaffirmed not only the good political contacts, but also the friendship between Bulgarians and Armenians,” Rumen Radev said at the meeting. The President added that the Armenian community in Bulgaria has preserved its identity and religion and has fully integrated in the Bulgarian society.

The Bulgarian Head of State also visited the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts “Matenadaran.”
