The economic relations between Bulgaria and Belgium, and also the challenges Europe is facing were among the highlights of the meeting between President Rumen Radev and His Majesty the King of Belgians Philippe. The Head of State was granted audience within his working visit in Brussels.

“Belgium is among the top investors in Bulgaria,” Head of State Rumen Radev said and added that they discussed with King Philippe the opportunities to increase the presence of the Belgian business in Bulgaria and to implement more joint projects. “A lot of Bulgarians study here, a lot of our compatriots live and work in Belgium – they are the bridge between the two countries,” the President said.  The Belgian King Philippe and the Bulgarian Head of State discussed the opportunities for education and career development of the young people.

“Historical ties connect the kingdom of Belgium and the Republic of Bulgaria. The constitution of the Third Bulgarian State and even the National Assembly Slogan “United We Stand Strong” are borrowed from the constitution of Belgium,” the President said. In his words, the foundation of Bulgarian democracy rests on a Belgian model.

Rumen Radev noted that the priorities of the Bulgarian EU Council Presidency were among the discussed topics. The President and the Belgian king also discussed their common interest in aviation.
