The opportunities to promote bilateral trade and mutual investments between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan were discussed at a meeting of the presidents of the two countries, Rumen Radev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The two heads of state welcomed the idea that a governmental delegation from Uzbekistan should visit Bulgaria in the near future in order to prepare Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's official visit and organize a business forum to promote economic cooperation. President Radev expressed Bulgaria's interest in being an integral part of the dynamic economic development of the Central Asian region.

Uzbekistan welcomes the fact that Bulgarian goods and foods will return to the Uzbek market, President Mirziyoyev said in turn, noting the opportunity opened up for more venture companies from the two countries to promote the export of both raw materials and products of a high added value from Uzbekistan to the European Union. In Uzbekistan there have been cases of successful cooperation and this partnership may be extended over to this country, was what was emphasized during the meeting.

China's initiative to improve the connectivity between Europe and Asia through One Belt One Road, among other initiatives, also created favorable conditions for an active economic and investment cooperation between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan.

Another topic discussed at the meeting was the option that students from Uzbekistan receive their higher education degree at Bulgarian universities, and the opportunities for promoting tourism.
