Rumen Radev: Bulgaria and Croatia have a Common Mission for Promoting the European Prospects and the Democratic Development of the Balkans

2017-05-30 17:44:00

Bulgaria and Croatia together play a decisive role for promoting the Balkans’ European prospects, peace and economic prosperity. Deepening the bilateral relations between Sofia and Zagreb and their cooperation within the EU create an atmosphere of good-neighborly relations in the region and are an impetus for the Western Balkan countries to conduct important reforms. This is what Head of State Rumen Radev said, who held a meeting today with Croatian deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Davor Ivo Stier.

Rumen Radev and Davor Ivo Stier highly appreciated the partnership between Bulgaria and Croatia in formulating common positions within the EU and in the spheres of tourism and security. The two voiced their stance to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in improving the infrastructure and energy connectivity in the Balkans, and also in promoting the trade between the two countries.

“Thanks to their excellent relations, Bulgaria and Croatia work actively to ensure that the Western Balkan countries’ road to European integration is open and their democratic development is a major priority,” Davor Ivo Stier said at the meeting and wished our country success during its presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2018.
