Using history as a bargaining chip in politics does not always yield the desirable result. This is what Head of state Rumen Radev said before Bulgarian journalists upon their request to comment on the statement made by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the effect that the Cyrillic alphabet in Russia originated from Macedonian land.
"Yesterday was a bright holiday for all peoples that use the Cyrillic alphabet. If we want to see in earnest that the Slavic peoples stand united, this can be achieved only if we show respect for history, and history clearly shows that Bulgaria is the motherland of the Slavic civilization and culture," President Rumen Radev pointed out.
