Bulgaria Supports Moldova on its Path towards EU Integration

2016-11-15 18:55:00

The Republic of Moldova remains resolute to continue its path towards EU integration and will put in huge efforts to meet the membership criteria in the next two years, no matter whether the EU is ready to accept new members. This is what Moldovan officials assured Head of State Rosen Plevneliev during the talks he held in Kishinev.

Head of State Rosen Plevneliev discussed with Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu Moldova’s progress on its path to EU integration, the situation in the two countries after the presidential elections held on 13 November, and the prospects for cooperation in a lot of spheres of mutual interest.

Bulgaria supports friendly Moldova in its process of EU integration and will readily continue to share its experience in this sphere, Bulgarian President assured, for his part.

During the talks Rosen Plevneliev highlighted the necessity to conduct difficult reforms in the spheres of the rule of law, fighting corruption, relieving the conditions for the small and medium business, reforming the bank and financial sector, strengthening the regulatory bodies, which could guarantee equality of the industrial entities and many more. Although Bulgaria passed through all painful stages, currently the Bulgarian citizens travel freely, there is economic growth, the direct foreign investments have increased considerably, the Head of State said and called on the Moldovan authorities to be open and rely on the Bulgarian experience.

On 16 November President Rosen Plevneliev will visit the Taraclia region, where he will meet representatives of the local authorities and talk with students from the Grigorij Tsamblak State University of Taraclia.
