Head of State Rosen Plevneliev congratulated Rumen Radev on his election for Bulgarian president after the end of the presidential elections on 13 November. The Head of State invited to his office at 2 Dondukov street the president elect and the two exchanged opinions on the current political situation in the country after the elections and after Prime Minister Boyko Borisov tendered the resignation of the government.

President Rosen Plevneliev and his successor exchanged views on the necessary steps that the presidential administration and the responsible political factors in the country should take in the next days and months. It is essential that peace and order should be preserved in Bulgaria, and that the actions that the institutions are to take in compliance with the constitutional provisions regulating the mechanisms and procedures for ensuring continuity in the executive and legislative branch of government should be predictable and clear.

Rosen Plevneliev and Rumen Radev discussed the presidential elections and the national referendum and shared the opinion that the election process took place without serious violations, and in a democratic and legitimate manner.

The two also commented the current political situation in the country in the context of the coordinated and fully transparent actions that all responsible institutions should take. To avert a political crisis in the country, any unilateral actions by any single institution should be avoided. The political and inter-institutional dialogues lie at the basis of easing the tension in society in a post-elections situation, it also emerged at the meeting.
