President Rosen Plevneliev was awarded Slovenia's highest state honor, the Order for Exceptional Merits, for his contribution to the peaceful, democratic and European development of the countries in the region, as a sign of appreciation of his activities for promoting Bulgaria's cooperation with Slovenia at the bilateral and multilateral level and strengthening relations within the European Union.

The order was presented by Slovene President Borut Pahor, who welcomed the Bulgarian President in Ljubljana with an official ceremony.

In the talks they will hold within President Rosen Plevneliev’s official visit to Slovenia, the two presidents will focus on the migration wave, the situation in Turkey, the fight against terrorism and the impact of a possible Brexit.

Bulgaria’s and Slovenia’s Presidents will exchange views on the Western Balkan countries' prospects of EU and NATO integration. The Bulgarian President's talks in Ljubljana will focus on topical issues figuring on the regional, European and international agenda, cooperation within the EU, bilateral trade and economic relations, investments, culture and education.
