Announcement of the Head of State’s Press Secretariat

The President’s Press Secretariat has been authorized to release Head of State Rosen Plevneliev’s official position on the situation in the Republic of Turkey:

The Republic of Turkey is an important neghbor of the Republic of Bulgaria. The stability and peace in Turkey are of primary importance to us, and so is respecting human rights.

We are closely monitoring the situation in Bulgaria’s neighbor, and we condemn any form of violence and support the democratically elected institutions in the Republic of Turkey.

I call for maintaining calm and peace. The Bulgarian citizens in the Republic of Turkey should approach Bulgaria’s diplomatic representations in the country if necessary.
