President Rosen Plevneliev’s position on the occasion of the “referenda” held in Ukraine’s Donetsk and Lugan regions

2014-05-12 16:44:00

The "referenda" held in the Donetsk and Lugan regions are a breach of the international law and of Ukraine’s Constitution and are yet another attempt to revise the rule of law established in Europe. They were organized by illegitimate separatist groups, which renders them unlawful and their outcome cannot possibly be recognized.

Bulgaria has expressed its position in support of preserving Ukraine’s territorial integrity and therefore the president deems such action as an attempt to further destabilize the country on the eve of the presidential elections.

The Ukrainian people have the sovereign right to decide its future on its own and determine its path of development by conducting free and democratic elections.
