2013-12-02 17:11:00

Bulgaria will continue to support the realization of the European prospects for the countries from the West Balkans, President Rosen Plevneliev said.  He met Enver Hoxhaj, foreign minister of the Republic of Kosovo, at 2 Dondukov street.  Today Bulgaria and Kosovo signed a memorandum on cooperation in the sphere of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and, in the Head of State’s words, our country will work so that the EU member states and the European institutions will recognize Kosovo’s achievements and will encourage the country in its efforts to adopt the European values and to strengthen the  relations with the EU.

“Starting negotiations to sign an Agreement for stabilization and associating Kosovo with the EU opens a new chapter in the relations with the EU and hopefully this process will be successfully completed in the spring of 2014,” Enver Hoxhaj said. The foreign minister of Kosovo expressed his gratitude for Bulgaria’s consistent support for building Kosovo as a modern and democratic state.

The opportunities for strengthening the bilateral trade and economic cooperation were also discussed at the meeting. The Head of State pointed out that the Bulgarian companies working in Kosovo will be encouraged to continue investing in the country. Both President Plevneliev and Minister Hoxhaj think that the stability and connectivity between the countries from Southeast Europe are of key importance for encouraging the investors to choose the region for implementing their business projects.

Minister Hoxhaj handed the Head of State an invitation to visit the Republic of Kosovo at a time convenient for him from Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, president of Kosovo.
