The President: I am an optimist that we will soon see Bulgarian investments in Vietnam

2013-10-29 13:34:00
During the first day of his state visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, President Rosen Plevneliev discussed concrete opportunities for Bulgarian and Vietnamese companies to make mutual investments and carry out joint productions. The Head of State held talks with Nguyen Sinh Hung, chair of the National Assembly of Vietnam, with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and with Nguyen Phu Trong, chair of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Bulgarian companies are exploring the opportunities for making investments in Vietnam in the sphere of building installations for the processing of produced oils and other ecological projects, in the mining sector, which is particularly important for the Asian country, as well as for building Bulgarian factories in Vietnam. In the Head of State’s words, this is likely to happen in the textile, food pharmaceutical industries.

The President informed that a serious interest has been shown in creating joint productions between Bulgarian and Vietnamese companies in the wine sector and the production of food, the production of tobacco and pharmaceutical products. Big Vietnamese companies in the construction and petrol sector are seeking opportunities for cooperation with Bulgarian companies, Rosen Plevneliev told Bulgarian journalists in Hanoi.

In the defense and war-industry sector the President expressed hope of “first concrete results” from the cooperation between Bulgaria and Vietnam. Opportunities exist in the utilization of ammunition, the export of Bulgarian special production for Vietnam and in putting joint efforts, relying on the Bulgarian experience, into the modernization of the Russian armaments and equipment.

Our country is also seeking Vietnamese export of metals, cocoa, coffee, coal and rubber, as well as fish products, the Head of State’s words made it clear. He recalled the opportunities provided on Bulgaria’s territory – the Varna and Burgas harbors, where a logistic center for the processing of fish and fish products produced by the biggest Vietnamese state company can be built, with a follow-up export to end clients in the European Union. Bulgaria, for its part, will work for increasing the export of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food products to Vietnam, in the production of which our country has strong positions.

All concrete ideas for making mutual investments and carrying out joint productions will be included in a plan for the coordination of which a representative of the Bulgarian side has already been appointed, Rosen Plevneliev added. “I am an optimist that in the next couple of years we will see an increase of the trade, Bulgarian investments in Vietnam and Vietnamese – in Bulgaria,” the Head of State said.

“Vietnam is strategically positioned in Southeast Asia and Bulgaria is a country that enjoys a high reputation and is greatly respected. This creates serious opportunities for the Bulgarian business and institutions. We would like it to assume concrete proportions,” the President further added, saying that the new model for economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Vietnam indicates concrete directions with serious prospects.

President Rosen Plevneliev will hold a meeting today with Nguyen Thi Doan, Vice-president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The two will attend a concert of the “The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices” ensemble in Hanoi and will speak with Vietnamese citizens who have studied and worked in Bulgaria.
