I hope that Bulgaria’s boxers will distinguish themselves at the Olympic Games in London, President Rosen Plevneliev said today, at a meeting at 2 Dondoukov Boulevard with the President of the International Federation of Amateur Boxing (AIBA) Ching-Kuo Wu and the President of the European Boxing Confederation, Dr Humbert Furgoni.

Bulgarian institutions are oriented towards achieving better results in sport and will support improvements in this regard, the President said.

AIBA President Ching hailed Bulgaria’s boxing traditions and the fact that the Bulgarian Boxing Federation enjoys very high status in the AIBA.

Dr Ching outlined the progress already made by the federation in the past few years, especially with, for the first time, the inclusion of women’s boxing in the Olympic Games to be held in London.

President Plevneliev praised the AIBA President’s efforts to create a long-term platform for the development of boxing in all its varieties.

On the Bulgarian side, the meeting was attended by the President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee Stefka Kostadinova, Minister of Physical Education and Sports Svilen Neykov and President of the Bulgarian Boxing Federation, Krasimir Ininski.
