Bulgaria’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan, revised by the Caretaker Government, relies on modernising with a focus on a green and digital economy, healthcare and education. Implementing the foreseen projects aims at achieving long-term results for the people and not simply absorbing EU funds, stated President Rumen Radev at a meeting with the Executive Vice President of European Commission Ms. Margrethe Vestager, who is in Sofia to participate in the Sixth Three Seas Initiative Summit.

The participating countries must work for common quality, reliability, safety and sustainability standards in implementing joint infrastructure projects in the Three Seas Initiative. That would significantly elucidate the value of projects establishing connectivity in our region, stated President Rumen Radev at a meeting with the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda. The discussion was held as part of the Sixth Three Seas Initiative Summit, hosted this year by Bulgaria.

Bulgaria hosted the Three Seas Initiative at a key moment of its development when we all put our efforts into accelerating the transition from political talk to practical actions, declared the Head of State Mr. Rumen Radev in his speech during the Three Seas Initiative Summit press conference. The President outlined the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund as an important tool for stimulating public-private partnership, which already works and has implemented its first investments in the key fields – transport, digitalisation and energy. They are entirely in line with the common policy of a green and innovative European Union, Mr. Rumen Radev emphasised.

Bulgaria is striving to attract more US investments in the fields of information technology and innovations. The US is one of the technological leaders in the world and successful bilateral partnerships in fields of high added value should be developed, stated President Rumen Radev at a meeting with a delegation from the US Congress, led by Senators Ben Cardin and Roger Wicker, and Representative Joe Wilson. The discussion was held as part of the Sixth Three Seas Initiative Summit. The Bulgarian Head of State is hosting the international event, bringing together the Presidents and heads of delegations of the 12 participating EU Member States and the strategic partners – USA, the European Commission and Germany. The forum is being held on the 8th and 9th of July in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.
