Maria Georgieva graduated with honours from the Professional High School of Economics "Prof. Dr. Dimitar Tabakov" - Sliven, majoring in "Accounting and Control".
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of National and World Economy and a Master's degree from the Faculty of International Economics and Politics, majoring in International Project Management, also there.
She obtained a Master's degree in National Security and Defence at the Georgi Stoykov Rakovski Military Academy.
She speaks English, Italian and Russian.
Since 2006, she has been working in the non-governmental sector.
In 2018, she began working in the Presidential Administration as a member of the Asylum Commission.
In 2020, she worked in the office of the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
She was appointed to the position of Presidential Advisor for Security and Defence by Decree No. 124 of March 19, 2026.
