Bulgaria and Albania are not only allies, but also share a true friendship and partnership, to which the Bulgarian national minority contributes considerably. This is what President Rumen Radev said in the speech he delivered at the reception on the occasion of Bulgaria’s national holiday – 3 March, given by the Bulgarian embassy in Albania for the diplomatic community, prominent representatives of the Albanian society and of the Bulgarian community. The reception was attended by President Ilir Meta, former Albanian President Recep Meydani, Parliament Speaker Gramoz Ruci, representatives of the executive branch of power and also by the mayors of Devoll, Korce, Pustec and Ballsh, in which representatives of the Bulgarian national minority also live.

The Head of State wished our compatriots in Albania success in their historic mission to connect the two friendly peoples. Rumen Radev called on the Bulgarians in Albania to be loyal and proud citizens of the country, yet not to forget and to preserve their Bulgarian identity.

The President thanked the representatives of the Albanian institutions that attended the reception for the adopted legal provisions whereby an opportunity is created for the Bulgarian national minority to exercise its rights.
