2015-05-10 14:00:00

We will show that we are looking not only to the past, but also to the future – we will outline a clear action program, we will sign bilateral documents and we will try to strengthen the cooperation in the agriculture and food production sectors, and also in pharmacy, mining, ICT, educational and cultural exchange, science. We will organize a meeting of the business circles from the two countries and we would not only like to come to Mongolia, but also stay here and implement qualitative products. These were the words with which President Rosen Plevneliev addressed more than 60 Mongolian citizens who have studied and worked in Bulgaria. The meeting marked the beginning of the Bulgarian President’s state visit to Mongolia, which will continue until 13 May.

“It is a great honor for us to be on a state visit to friendly Mongolia on the occasion of the 65th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Mongolia. It is highly symbolic that my first visit to Mongolia starts with meeting namely those who keep Bulgaria in their hearts, who love and know Bulgaria. You will help us ensure that up-to-date and contemporary Bulgaria achieves success in Mongolia,” the Head of State told the alumni of Bulgarian universities in Ulan Bator. The President highlighted as unique the Association of Mongolian citizens who graduated in Bulgaria and emphasized that what they have learned in Bulgaria helps friendly Mongolia to develop fast and dynamically in all sectors today.

Over 3,500 Mongolian citizens have specialized and taken their university degrees in Bulgaria. Among them are government members, deputies in the Great State Khural, artists and opera singers, geologists, medical doctors, agronomists. In the 2014-2015 school year, 35 Mongolians have studied in Bulgarian universities. “Bulgaria once again has the ambition to be an educational hub in Southeast Europe and hopefully a lot more young people will study in our country. Bulgarian universities are strong, their diplomas are recognized throughout Europe and the world and are a symbol of a high-quality education. You are the symbol of the success of this educational system and within the framework of my visit we will strengthen these ties,” the Head of State said in his address to the alumni of Bulgarian universities in Mongolia.

On 11 May in Ulan Bator the Head of State will hold talks with Mongolia’s political leadership and will unveil a monument of the Cyrillic alphabet. “This monument will be yet another symbol of the intransient and great deed of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius. This monument will show us that the Cyrillic alphabet connects us and is the firm foundation on which the friendship between Bulgaria and Mongolia rests,” President Rosen Plevneliev emphasized and voiced his gratitude to the initiative committee and to those who contributed to ensuring that the Monument of the Bulgarian alphabet is built 8,000 km away from Bulgaria.
