“As head of state, I will do everything in my power so that tensions do not arise in society after the assault on the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. We have to maintain quiet and allow the institutions to do their job,” President Rosen Plevneliev told the traditional annual reception for the heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the Republic of Bulgaria, held this year in the Archaeological Museum in Sofia.

“The Presidential institution will continue to be pragmatic, transparent and orientated towards the problems of society, and seek not only bipartisan consensus, but also results,” President Rosen Plevneliev told a news conference at the Coat of Arms Hall at 2 Dondoukov Boulevard to mark the first anniversary of his inauguration. Changes of government should not lead to endless reforms, cuts and the withdrawal of social compensation for military personnel, said President and Commander-in-Chief Rosen Plevneliev, who took part in the enlarged Defence Council at the Ministry of Defence. The head of state said that calm was needed in the armed forces and he urged that no doubt be cast on the size of their social benefits and compensation.
