5 July 2013 | 16:04
“Nobody can convince me that elections are something bad, that this most democratic tool of the rule-of-law state may be “harmful.” No, it cannot be harmful – this is the only tool to resolve insoluble conflicts and to unravel the most complicated knot”, the Head of State said in an address to the nation on the current situation and the public discontent in the country.

President Rosen Plevneliev: The situation of crisis in Bulgaria requires that all political leaders show a responsible attitude

3 July 2013 | 13:01
My responsibility as a Head of State is to continue to seek a dialogue and consensus on finding a solution of the current political crisis in Bulgaria. I am convinced that the situation requires that all institutions and leaders of political parties show the same responsible attitude. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev, who received David Lidington, UK Minister of State for Europe, said today.

Rosen Plevneliev: The solution of the current crisis is not in conducting a revolution, but in making correct steps in the correct direction

2 July 2013 | 17:05
The solution of the current crisis is not in conducting a revolution, but in making consistent correct steps in the correct direction. This is what President Rosen Plevneliev said at a meeting he held with the famous Polish economist Leshek Balcerovich, who is on a visit to Bulgaria. Although the political parties need “a pressure exerted from the opposite side,” the demands put forward should be concrete and precisely formulated. This is what was emphasized at the meeting. However, there is no consensus and dialogue in Bulgaria, the Head of State said.

Statement made by President Rosen Plevneliev on the occasion of the decision made by the Shah Deniz consortium on the choice of a pipeline for the transit of Caspian gas to Europe

28 June 2013 | 17:05
On 28 June the Shah Deniz consortium officially announced the choice of the Trans Adriatic gas pipeline (TAP) for the transit of natural gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe. I consider this decision as only the first stage of the construction of the South gas corridor. At the same time I believe that the Nabucco West project preserves its strategic importance for diversifying and guaranteeing the energy security in Europe.
