Bulgaria and Romania will work for the construction of a third bridge over the Danube river which will connect Silistra with the Romanian town of Calarsi. This is what Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and his Romanian counterpart Trayan Basescu agreed on at the meeting held during the 18th summit of the Heads of State of the Central and East European countries that it taking place in Slovakia’s capital Bratislava.

In the presence of Caretaker Prime Minister Marin Raykov and the caretaker cabinet members, the President pointed out that it has coped with its two most important tasks – to appease the public and to guarantee a smooth and democratic transition to a new parliament and government. “The caretaker cabinet did not make serious mistakes and adopted a constructive and positive approach and set an example of continuity,” Rosen Plevneliev commented.

The transition to an economy of energy-efficiency and low carbon emissions has no alternative and we should reconsider the challenges related to the energy sector. This is what Rosen Plevneliev said at a public debate held on the economic and ecological benefits from creating an energy-efficient and a low-carbon emission society in Bulgaria. President Rosen Plevneliev signed a decree, in compliance with his constitutional powers, by virtue of which he proposes that the National Assembly elect Plamen Oresharski as prime minister of the next Bulgarian government. This happened after the candidate for prime minister, nominated by the second largest parliamentary group in the National Assembly, presented to the Head of State the membership and structure of the Council of Ministers, with which the exploratory mandate handed a couple of days ago was successfully completed.
