Currently there is no need to convene the Consultative Council for National Security, President Rosen Plevneliev told journalists in the Asparuhovo quarter of Varna, where he came to see what the consequences of the flood disaster were. The Head of State and European Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva took part in the meeting of the district crisis headquarters for overcoming the damage in the region of Varna that was severely affected by the floods.

President Plevneliev requested that an urgent plan including short-term and long-term measures to repair the damage caused by the floods and prevent disasters be launched. The Head of State, who took part in the meeting of the district crisis headquarters in Varna, called on for promptly estimating the damage and launching projects on draining and constructing and modernizing the drainage, which should be funded by European instruments.

The parliamentary parties represented in parliament, members of the Consultative Council for National Security, discussed the topical political situation in the country and agreed on the necessity of effecting a smooth transition to ensuring political stability and on the need to hold political consultations on a couple of key issues.
