It is time to adapt national development strategies to the new commitments under the Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted in September 2015. The signing of the Paris Climate Change Agreement is a historic event which will pave the way to the future of our societies by 2100. This is an agreement on the future of the planet, a clear commitment of every society and every country to act environmentally responsibly so as to serve the interests of the next generations. This is what Head of State Rosen Plevneliev said in New York, where he will take part in the High Level Thematic Debate on Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and in the official ceremony on signing the Paris Climate Change Agreement.

The Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the EU in 2018 should plan early its priorities, among which could be the development of the “Danube” region, of the small and medium-sized European towns, energy efficiency. This was the position shared by Head of State Rosen Plevneliev and the President of the European Committee of the Regions Markku Markkula, who held talks at 2 Dondukov street today.
